To Whom It May Concern:
As a user I feel extremely dissatisfied and upset for Facebook’s decision to ban the Fan Page “No a Keiko.” Due to that decision, the Fan Page “No a Keiko” does not allow its administrators to publish information about Alberto Fujimori nor to make comments about him or his daughter, hindering our possibilities to share ideas and raise awareness about several important issues.
The Fan Page “No a Keiko” was created in order to engage Peruvian citizens in a crusade against Keiko Fujimori. Certainly, Keiko Fujimori is the daughter of the former President of Peru, Alberto Fujimori, who has been recently sentenced to 25 years in prison for committing crimes against human rights – i,e, he is responsible for 25 individuals murdered and two kidnaps. The Peruvian law was accurate and impartial on this issue, and concluded that Alberto Fujimori created death squads that arbitrarily murdered 25 individuals. Fujimori has also been sentenced to seven years in prison for corruption – i.e. bribing media, congressmen, etc. and six years in prison for usurpation of roles – i.e. for invading private property without authorization from a judge.
Fujimori’s daughter, Keiko, wishes to become President of Peru to be able to free his father. According to the Peruvian law, a President can grant freedom to someone who may be sentenced to prison if he or she thinks it is convenient to do so. Hence, Keiko Fujimori intends to go against the rule of law, since justice has proven Fujimori to be guilty of the aforementioned charges. In fact, through that decision K. Fujimori would go against the democratic order, since she would not respect the division of powers – that is, the division between Executive power, Legislative power and the Judiciary.
In the Fan Page “No a Keiko” fans have always discussed issues regarding Fujimori’s sentences and responsibilities in the aforementioned crimes. Similarly, “No a Keiko” rejects any Presidential candidate that may go against the democratic principles, such as the respect for law and human life. There are currently more than 12,000 individuals who oppose to K. Fujimori’s intentions to run for office. Facebook is not listening to those voices, and therefore I am calling to your awareness on this issue.
In case you do not want to allow the administrators to comment or continue to volunteer at “No a Keiko” I would like to report the pages “Haremos a Keiko Presidenta” and “KEIKO FUJIMORI A LA PRESIDENCIA!” since both pages are dedicated to Alberto Fujimori, a proven criminal that I condemn. Both pages promote crime, and that is something I believe Facebook should not accept.
Thank you so much for your time. I ask you please to reconsider your decision, and help us to raise awareness of our country’s democracy.
Sincerely,
NOMBRE DE USUARIO EN FACEBOOK
